Homeschool Physical Education is held at the Kim Geist Academy. The aim is to get engaged with old/new friends and physical activity over the winter, with some entertaining classes – designed just for homeschoolers during the afternoons. Ages ~9 and up. Challenges and games are a part of the curriculum!
– Strength/fitness training – Using body weight and weights appropriate to age. All equipment is provided.
– Indoor cycling – Using stationary trainers. A personal bike with 26-27″ wheels and gears is needed. Contact us if your bike has different size wheels or you are in need of a bike.
DATES & TIME: Sessions run Mondays and Thursdays, March 17 – March 27 with strength (1:00-2:00pm) and cycling (2:00-2:30pm) able to be registered for separately or together. Class cancellations may be made for inclement, dangerous travel weather or instructor unavailability.
BOOKING & PAYMENT: At initial registration on this page, you will receive an email with payment instructions. Registration is not complete and your spot has not been saved until payment has been made. Payments are non-refundable.
ARRIVAL & EQUIPMENT: Please arrive early enough to be ready to begin by the start time (allow more extra time (20+ min.) your first time to the facility, if you have a bike). Park/drop-off/pick-up in the parking lots across from the building, on Gap Rd. Bring a towel and a water bottle and wear a pair of sturdy-closed toe sneakers for strength. A water fountain is available to refill. Private restrooms/changing rooms are available. A waiver must be signed by a parent/guardian upon the first class. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay in the seating area or leave. Wifi is available.
Please leave your front bike wheel in the car/at home. Bring your front thru-axle. Bikes with quick releases as well as 10 and 12mm thru-axles can be accommodated. Some are available to borrow if your bike is not already equipped, but it is strongly recommended to pick up toe clips and straps and a rear steel skewer, if your bike uses a quick release skewer. It is rare, but flat tires can happen on trainers, so it is also recommended to have a spare inner tube for your bike on hand. We do not stock these.
It is not necessary to notify about missing a class, but it can be helpful, if you are able to. The ability to leave a bike between classes is dependent upon the number of participants for the season.
